                The 2018 wildfire season in California was the deadliest and most destructive in the state’s history — with over 1 million acres destroyed. Entire neighborhoods were consumed by the flames, leaving people without employment, and families without homes.
The need in California was urgent — and donors helped seniors who lost so much. Here's an update on how donors made a difference in the aftermath of the wildfires.
Thanks to our compassionate and generous donors, the following nine organizations received $1.2 million in emergency grants, including $500,000 in matched funds from AARP and AARP Foundation:
